COVID leads to severe respiratory tract and lung infections.  Such affected patients often require a ventilator support to breathe.  Keeping this in mind, the faculty of Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology in Putturu, Karnataka, developed a low cost and portable ventilation support system, Viveka JeevaVardhaka  to help hospitals and emergency services.

This is an automated, mechanical device for patients during inter-hospital or intra-hospital transportation during emergency situations.  The ventilator supports the ventilation by adjustable respiratory rate and tidal volume.  This portable ventilator provides long term support to patients who do not require complex critical care ventilators.  This ventilator also runs on a battery unit, if required.  The Wenlock District Hospital in Mangaluru has evaluated this ventilation support system and concluded it as a helpful device for the hospitals  as well as ambulance services to transport seriously ill patients.  Each battery operated Viveka JeevaVardhaka Ventilator unit costs Rs. 16,000 +18% GST + 5% Milaap platform fees + 18% GST on Milaap fees + up to 3.2% payment gateway fees.  The total amount of Rs. 120,000 will fund 5 Ventilators.
